Tornado hits Millom

FREAK weather hit Millom as residents captured stunning footage of a tornado hurtling over the town.

EM Tornado video slide

The cyclone was spotted on Wednesday evening as intense hailstone rained down.

Jenny Brumby, who lives at Millom Pier, noticed the twister on the Duddon Estuary around 8pm and sent a video, filmed on her mobile phone, to the Evening Mail.

Have your say

It should of taken millom with it?

Let em get on with it Jenny, people pay out thousands to travel to the US to catch even just a brief glimpse of a Tornado so I think you were very lucky to have seen one right on your doorstep..! Well done for getting some short footage of it too, without it no one would have ever believed you. The paper did sensationalise it to be something right out of Tornado Alley and managed to describe it as a "tropical hurricane" at the same time:) that's not your fault, joking aside, a small tornado like this might have caused "some" damage to your roof etc if your home was directly in its path. Based on your position and the view in the background this Tornado is spinning anti clockwise and moving predominantley from Sw to Ne which is consistent with the majority of the bigger US tornados. Thank you for sharing..:)
