Millom Children’s Centre Olympics

CHAMPIONS were crowned at a special family-friendly Olympics.

The Millom Children’s Centre event saw young athletes slugging it out for the prized gold cup, in events such as the obstacle course and space hopper race.

Karen Jackson-Smith, a support worker at the Sure Start centre, next to Millom Infant School in Lapstone Road, said the day was a huge success. She said: “The event went really, really well and there was a great turnout.

“We wanted to give the kids something to do during the holidays and decided to tie it in with the Olympics.

“Everyone enjoyed themselves, despite a couple of rain showers.”
