VISITORS enjoyed a day out at a rural event which opened a window on country life.

Black Combe Country Fair took place on bank holiday Monday, in Bootle, in the stunning foothills of Black Combe.

The traditional Lakeland show always attracts good numbers to its show classes for dogs.

There were fine examples of beagles, foxhounds, terriers, whippets, lurchers and gundogs on show. The entries included dogs from Black Combe Beagles and pets in the fun K9 class.

The event also featured the popular terrier racing.

The traditional Cumbrian sports were also demonstrated through Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling and a fell race. Children's sports, archery and entertainment were also featured.

The native pony of Cumbria, the fell pony, was also represented through displays from the Fell Pony Society.

Cumbrian walking sticks, vintage vehicle, agricultural engines, stationary engines and trikes were also all on display at the event.

The fair also featured a number of trade stands.
