THE life of a teen beauty queen and aspiring journalist who was tragically killed in a car accident will be celebrated by an 'uplifting' concert.

Skye Mitchell died alongside friend Caitlin Huddleston on Friday night when their green Toyota Yaris collided with a Transit van on the A595, near Bootle.

Former Miss England singer Amy Jo Clough, 20, first met Skye on the pageant circuit when she was 14 and wanted to do something positive to celebrate the life of her friend.

She said: "She was just so lovely and I wanted to make people feel better.

"It's just awful news and I was crying days because she was just so nice.

"Our mums were friends and Skye's mum was always talking about how proud she was of her.

"It should be a nice night and I'm hoping the acts will be nice and uplifting and make people feel better.

Miss Clough, who currently lives in London, will host the event which she hopes will attract a number of different acts.

So far, 10 different performers have confirmed their attendance at the tribute, which will take place on Saturday, September 23 at the Lancashire Grand Theatre.

The venue holds 465 people and Miss Clough is hoping the night will be a sell-out.

"I'm expecting a lot of people to come and I will be sharing it on Facebook with the Miss England community and I hope they will all come along," she added.
