Time stopped in Millom this morning as the hands of the Millom Market Square clock were removed as part of restoration work.
A worker from specialist the Cumbria Clock Company, of Dacre, near Penrith, was working on the clock faces and just before 11am there were only hands left on one of the three clock faces.
Cash was raised to restore the clock movement and provide chimes on the hour and quarters after a major public fundraising effort.
Before that, the clock on the former town hall had been out of order for a couple of years.
