A SURPRISE was in store after a product from a south Cumbrian shop made a special appearance in one of the nation's favourite soaps.

Owners of That Paint Shop in Millom stopped in their tracks when they spotted their wallpaper in Tracy Barlow's new shop in Coronation Street.

As Lucy and Neil Thompson settled down on Friday night to catch up on the box, the last thing they expected to see was the wallpaper they sell in their shop.

Wallpaper from That Paint Shop in Millom was spotted in Tracy Barlow's new florists in Coronation Street Lucy Thompson, co-owner of the store in Wellington Street, said: "We were watching Corrie after the kids had gone to bed and we stopped it and my husband shouted that they'd used our wallpaper."

This is not the first time the couple have spotted their products on the screen and they are always surprised and excited when it happens.

Mrs Thompson said: "There have been a few instances like that. We had a red one with poppies on that was in Michelle's flat.

"There was another one on Hollyoaks as well and one on the Disney channel."

Mr Thompson added: "People have come into the shop before and said they'd seen a paper on Hollyoaks or something and have come looking for it.

"I think it does have a big impact especially in these, like magazines when they're flicking through and see some furniture or curtains they like.

"It's good to see because it shows it's popular."

The shop stocks wallpaper from international firm, Muriva, who distributes its products to different stockists across the UK and beyond.

After spotting one of the products on the cobbles, Mrs Thompson was delighted and believes it shows that That Paint Shop is on the money.

She said: "I was quite excited by it really. It just shows that the products we're selling are up to date and on trend.

"Because we're a small business we've got to try and keep up with stores such as B&Q and Homebase and all the bigger stores so it's good for us to see that we're on trend. "

Mr Thompson added: "On things like soaps they're changing the scenes all the time and keeping them new.

"They have to keep up to date."
