A TOWN'S factory which supplies camel fencing to the Middle East has showcased its skills to the public.

Tornado Wire welcomed guests to the company's main warehouse in Millom earlier this week to see production up close.

Among the party was Copeland MP Trudy Harrison.

She said: "I'm very impressed with the factory and I will see fencing in a whole new light.

"To learn this company which has risen in Millom is exporting camel fences to Qatar and other countries is quite something.

"This is exactly the sort of company this government needs to support and I really hope I can help them any way I can.

"The products they make are things we see day in, day out and never wonder how they are made.

"The complexity that goes into it has been really interesting to learn."

The company evolved from a farming business to fence contractors in 1969, before acquiring land in Millom in 1982.

Kenny Campbell, managing director, said: "The number of different product variations we have, from different knots, sizes and materials, means our requirement for flexibility is key."
