A BABY shower including advice stands and toy swaps was hailed as a success this week.

Millom Library hosted the event to provide parents and carers with help and advice.

Ian Lovatt, community services officer for the library, said: "The event was an opportunity for parents and carers to talk to different people about relevant activities and get different advice.

"It was a general thing to get the community involved and interacting, and letting them know what services are available in this area. It was a good success.

"This was the first event of its kind we've had, and we're hoping to do more related events in the future because we were able to involve the children's centre too."

As part of the baby shower, which took place last week, parents and carers were encouraged to bring items they no longer need and had the option to swap them for other things donated.

It was also an opportunity to showcase Cumbria County Council's real nappy scheme, as well as health visitors from Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation and Breastfeeding South Cumbria, and information on relaxation and breastfeeding support.
