There are plenty of things you can do to celebrate on race day so why not start with food and drink - a great spread is what makes a Spring party after all.
Traditionally champagne is served at horse racing and if you are looking for any weekend bargains the bubbly is on offer at the following supermarkets:
- Tesco have some great discounted champagnes for this weekend including Lanson Black Label Brut Champagne for £22
- Lanson Rose Brut for £27
- Tattinger Brut Champagne for £28
- Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial Rose for £40
To get a truly brilliant bargain however, why not switch to prosecco, which is made in a similar way to champagne. Champagne is made in the Champagne region of France, whereas prosecco is made in Italy. You can usually get a much better deal on prosecco though, this weekend you can pick up some Grand National fizz here:
- Aldi Belletti Prosecco Spumante for £4.99
- Morrisons Jamie's Italian Prosecco for £10.
For the last few year the sponsors of the Grand National have been Crabbie's, who make alcoholic ginger beer. You can bet that the Crabbie's bars in Aintree will be heaving all day so why not stock up on this summery beverage for your own Grand National party and experiment with drinks like the Crabbie's Mojito.
When making food, keep things simple and picky with easy to handle mini burgers, hot dogs and vol-au-vents.
