AN inquest into the death of two teenagers from Millom is set to be opened tomorrow.
Cumbria area coroner Kally Cheema will officially begin the formal legal process following the deaths of 18-year-olds Skye Mitchell and Caitlin Huddleston last month at the Coroner's Court in Cockermouth at 1pm.
The pair died followed a collision on the A595 near to Bootle on July 14 between Miss Mitchell's car; a Toyota Yaris, and a Ford Transit van driven by a 51-year-old man.
The inquest will be adjourned until December 13 when a formal hearing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident will go ahead.
News of the deaths has rocked communities across the area over the past month – with tributes paid to both Miss Mitchell and Miss Huddleston along with concern for the recovery of a third teenager who had been travelling in the rear of Miss Mitchell's car and the driver of the van.
