MILLOM residents left devastated by flash flooding last weekend can benefit from a number of charity funds.

The Cumbria Disaster Fund was set up by Cumbria Community Foundation following Storm Desmond in 2015 in an attempt to provide immediate financial assistance to anyone who needs help following a disaster.

The foundation has pledged £50,000 to the fund and urge others to come forward to help more people, with 200 homes flooded in the town and surrounding areas .

Andy Beeforth, chief executive of Cumbria Community Foundation, said: "It has been devastating to see the damage done yet again to our community over the last few days.

"We want to do all we can to help and are pleased to be part of the coordinated response led by the county council.

"We hope that our donation will help to bring immediate assistance to those most in need."

CGP made the first contribution to the fund with £1,000, while the town council have donated £5,000.

Fund Application forms are available for residents who have registered with the Millom Flood Action Group. Registration forms are available in the library and Tin Chapel.
