VOLUNTEERS from Furness and Millom coastguard teams were called to help rescue a horse-rider who had fallen on the beach.
The incident happened at around 1.30pm this afternoon on the beach at Haverigg.
Road paramedics with the North West Ambulance Service were first on scene and carrying out first aid but requested the assistance of Furness Coastguard and Millom Coastguard to recover the injured rider from the beach.
The horse-rider was later taken to hospital by paramedics.
