PART-TIME firefighters from Millom and Broughton were called to tackle a blaze after a tractor set on fire at a farm.
The two on-call crews were called to the farm at Silecroft near Millom at 6.41pm on Friday night.
The fire was extinguished using two hose reel jets and an extinguisher.
Speedy work by the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the barn.
On-call or retained firefighters are ‘on call’ to respond to a range of emergencies.
They can still have another job until the call comes, then they become a professional firefighter. Call-out rates and workloads vary across the stations.
