THE family of a beauty queen who was tragically killed in a car accident have spoken of their pride in receiving her A-Level results.

Skye Mitchell died alongside her friend Caitlin Huddleston, when the car they were driving collided with a Transit van near Bootle on July 14.

The 18-year-old had already sat exams in English literature, geography and media and had been given an unconditional offer to study journalism and media at the University of Salford.

Today her father, Ian Mitchell, and mother Sharon Fry attended results day with the other sixth form students at Millom School where they were presented with Skye's grades, B,B,B.

Mr Mitchell said: "Such a proud day - A level results. Skye Mitchell you did us all proud."

In what proved to be a bittersweet occasion for both staff and students, tributes to the former Miss Junior North West poured in.

Speaking on behalf of the whole school, headteacher Matthew Savidge said: "Millom School would like to take the opportunity to pay tribute to Skye Mitchell, who would have been immensely proud of the grades she achieved, which is testimony to not only her hard work throughout her time at school but also the passion that she showed for creative subjects.

"We will remember Skye as a dedicated and committed student and we are thankful for her vast contribution to the school community.

"She will be missed by us all."
