A RAILWAY line has fully reopened after days of repairs to a sinkhole.
The stretch of line on the Cumbrian coast was closed on Friday after a sinkhole appeared following Storm Eleanor.
Network Rail engineers have now repaired the stretch of track between Whitehaven and Workington.
The closure had seen a number of delays as trains on the route were limited to one line while repairs were carried out.
Phil James, head of operations for Network Rail, said: "We understand the importance of this line to the regional economy and did all we could to fix the issue and reopen the railway as quickly and safely as possible."
The sinkhole was around two foot wide and four foot deep. According to Network Rail records, there have been 50 sink holes on railways in the past 12 years.
