COPELAND residents are being urged to attend meetings to discuss a council's budget strategy for the coming year.

Copeland Borough Council is set to host a series of events over January to allow homeowners to have their say on the draft budget for 2017/18.

Copeland's elected mayor Mike Starkie said: "We want as many people as possible to come and hear about our finances for next year. Savings have to be made but we have a robust plan in place.

"It's important the public are consulted and Copeland residents are able to give us their views about various parts of the planned spending.

"These are the people who should be helping shape our priorities for the year ahead and I look forward to meeting as many of them as possible at these events."

A breakfast meeting aimed primarily at businesses is set to be held in Millom on Friday January 20 from 7:30am to 9am at the town's Network Centre in Salthouse Road.
