TWO Cumbrian charities are hoping for grants from a fundraising competition.
The Millom Pensioners' Association and Autism Around the Combe are hoping for a grant from the OneFamily Foundation Community Awards, to pay for upkeep of the Tin Chapel in the town, with voting set to close on Wednesday.
Maureen Greaves, of the Pensioners' Association, said: "This is very important. It's part of the town's history and has been used for a lot of things over the years.
"We've got quite a lot of work to do down there. The money we will hopefully get will go a long way towards doing the kitchen, then we will be seeking more funding for rest of the work.
"We could get £25,000, and that's a lot of money. We can't let the hall go and we've got to fight to keep this going."
