A CAR has been destroyed after it became engulfed in flames due to what was believed to be an electrical fault.
Crews from Broughton were dispatched to Wellhouse Farm in Foxfield shortly after a silver Citroen Xsara caught fire at 8am this morning.
The fire caused a nearby VW Transporter to also set alight, with the flames also threatening to set alight a barn.
Ian Westall, who is a watch manager at Ulverston fire station, arrived with his crew at 8.45am by which the time the flames had been extinguished.
He said: "When I arrived the fire had been dealt with by Broughton's crew by using two breathing apparatuses and one hose reel jet.
"We don't know exactly what caused it. The best guess would be an electrical fault but the car has been burnt out so there is no way really of finding out."
The cars are owned by the occupants of the farm and nobody was hurt in the fire.
