A DRIVER who ran away from police to avoid being breathalysed has been disqualified.

Kristian Martin Rooney-Deane, of West Cumbria, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis at Furness Magistrates' Court today.

The 30-year-old admitted to drinking whisky at a friend's house before he drove his car on July 6.

Presiding magistrate Mr Steve Sim disqualified Rooney-Deane from driving for a minimum of three years and issued a 14-week curfew from 7pm until 5am.

He also ordered the defendant to pay an £85 victim surcharge and £80 in court costs.
