AN energetic cast, plenty of special effects and a cleverly written script are set to make Barrow's panto one of the most hilarious ever.

The Christmas pantomime, Peter Pan , will run at The Forum from Wednesday December 13 to Friday December 30 – and director James Shone promises it will be the best yet.

Ticket sales are already soaring to record heights as local starlet Georgie Jackson, comes back to her home town to play Tinkerbell and is joined by a star cast of panto veterans and a fresh young face as Peter Pan.

Miss Jackson, 24, who is originally from Meadowside, Ulverston, now works as an actress and model in London after graduating in musical theatre. You may recognise the former Dowdales pupil from her appearance in the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals, when she was part of the Disney themed girl group Misstasia. Miss Jackson said: "Tinkerbell is definitely a dream part for me, she is one of the only female pantomime character who is really magical!

"I am also thrilled to be back performing in Barrow at The Forum. I first performed here when I was seven and the last time I was here I was 19. It will be amazing to star in something that my friends and family can come to watch and to spend Christmas at home with my parents rather than in London."

The comic draw for many will be played by Adam Kelly who will take on the role of Mr Smee. Mr Kelly, 37, is used to playing the 'silly billy' role and has played the character of Wishy Washy opposite Christopher Biggins's Widow Twanky in Aladdin . He said: "This version of Peter Pan is the funniest I have ever read. There will be plenty of laughs in there for adults as well as children.

"The set will be fantastic and there will be scenes with Peter flying around and me juggling knives or riding my unicycle.

"If you like lots of custard pies then this is the show for you. We have so much to get excited about, including some fantastic animatronics and audience interaction.

"I am really excited about spending Christmas in the Lakes too, it is so beautiful up here and a lovely change from my home in Greenwich, London.

"I am also lucky enough to be starring in the same pantomime as my partner Charlotte Griffiths who is playing the part of Tiger Lily. It is the first time in 10 years we will spend Christmas together."

Young director Mr Shone, 20, has been writing and producing pantomimes for five years and works all over the North of England with stars such as Ashley and Pudsey from Britain's Got Talent and Sooty, Sweep and Sue.
