A MILLOM drink-driver who was involved in a road accident has been banned from getting behind the wheel.

Otis Holliday, 21, appeared at Furness Magistrates' Court today and pleaded guilty to driving while being over the legal limit.

The Barrow court heard that police were called to a two-car collision on August 13, involving Holliday, who was driving an Audi.

The incident took place in Horn Hill, Millom and police smelt alcohol on Holliday's breath.

His breath test reading was 56 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes of alcohol.

Prosecutor, Mr Peter Kelly, said Holliday was a man of previous good character and should be given credit for his early guilty plea.

Mr Kelly said the aggravating feature was that there was a collision.

Holliday, of Pannatt Hill, Millom, represented himself in court and told the magistrates: "I've learnt from my mistake. It has affected me and my family. I've been to see the other person in the accident and he is OK."

Holliday was disqualified from driving for 15 months. He was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
