A COMMUNITY funded film project which has raised over £3,000 are looking for extras ahead of shooting in a Cumbrian village.

A group of London-based student film-makers will head to Ulpha for their project, called Three Hail Marys.

Led by producer Dora Deak and director Brock Elwick, the group are set to carry out filming from March 10 to 15 at St John's Church.

Organisers are looking for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to get involved.

They say the film, described as a dark comedy, "examines our ability to communicate and connect, while enduring the harsh realities of ego, responsibility and incompetence combined.

"It is the story of Father Eamon, a borderline misanthropic Catholic priest living in an idyllic parish where no one takes him seriously and God is distinctly silent.

"Frustrated by a series of seemingly mundane clerical duties and the unfulfilled promise of an intimate connection to the divine, Father Eamon’s life is changed forever when a mysterious woman, Marla, arrives from nowhere."

The group have been backed by more than 50 backers on the online funding platform Kickstarter.
