Carcer City are set to headline Defiance Fest

Bands from across the UK descend on south Cumbria on August 16 for an evening of heavy music, from punk through to hardcore and death metal, as Defiance Fest returns for a second year.

Organised by locally-based Defiance Promotions in conjunction with Almost Fatal, the gig will see two stages of diverse acts shaking the New Cons, in Abbey Road, to its very core.

Heading up the Defiance stage are one of the best-known heavy acts to visit town in recent years - Liverpool outfit Carcer City. The prog-metallers have played all over Europe with some of the biggest names in the business, and recently featured on the line-up for Tech Fest 2014.

North East duo The Colour Line and Wraiths are both heading over, the former another technical band, while the latter fall in the more downtempo doom end of the spectrum.

The North West is well-represented too, with Blackpool’s Boston Manor and Preston’s Strikeout making appearances, with a quartet of local names rounding out the stage’s programme; highly-rated pop punks Willowside Park, originally of Millom, are joined by Barrow bands Tyranny of Man, Wasted Saints and Fight For Friday.

Over on the Almost Fatal stage, Viking metal masters Ravenage headline with their unique epic folk sound, while death metal is well represented with Glasgow’s Scordatura, Carlisle’s Triverse Massacre, and Barrow’s own Repulsive Vision on the bill.

Rounding out the line-up are black metallers Ethereal, Geordie thrashers Souls of Jack Ketch, and stoner act Callus.

The 16+ event kicks off at 2pm and entrance is payable on the door.
