AT ground level, the views afforded by the Lake District are simply stunning.

Rolling hills meet rugged fells and mountains. Waterfalls and streams crash and meander towards their final destination.

Be it Coniston, Windermere - or some of the national park's lesser known beauty spots, there's always a view to amaze.

As spring arrived over the weekend, a tale of two seasons unfolded to the delight of Lakes visitors.

Snow-capped peaks framed sun-drenched towns and villages as thousands flocked to enjoy a day out.

Viewed from the sky, the vistas they were enjoying were even more stunning.

Photographer Owen Humphries captured a series of stunning aerial shots as he flew from Windermere to Ullswater, taking in Derwentwater, Thirlmere and Coniston.
