A hotel in Windermere is taking part in a programme to give 400 unemployed people aged 16-24 across the UK the chance to flourish in the hospitality industry.

The MacDonald Old England Hotel and Spa is one of two hotels in Cumbria taking part in the "Future Talent" programme which sees MacDonald Hotels in Cumbria team up with apprenticeship group Total People.

As part of the 16-week programme, those who apply will get experience of the hospitality sector including food, beverages, conference, and front of house roles.

At the end of the programme, successful candidates will be offered a vacancy or apprenticeship within the hotel.

Edward Cross, Regional Managing Director at MacDonald Hotels, said: "MacDonald Hotels & Resorts is offering young people a fully-rounded, high quality, introduction to a career in the hospitality industry.

"As a leading name within the sector, we're committed to providing real opportunities for people to enter employment."
