FELL racing, cycling and Cumberland and Westmorland wresting are all on the bill for a sports spectacular in the Lakes this week.

Ambleside Sports takes place at Rydal Park on Thursday.

The day features junior and senior fell races, grass track cycling, junior track races, Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling for ladies, gents, and children and hound trailing, where the hounds follow a pre-laid trail of aniseed on the surrounding fells.

The show also has children's rides, games, climbing wall, trade stands and a food court and a bar with traditional ales and a Pimm’s corner.

The gates open at 10am and the first event is from noon.

Admission is £6 for adults, children under 12 go for free if accompanying an adult, youths 12 to 17 pay £3, Car parking costs £3.
