THE Met Office has issued a warning of snow and sleet for Cumbria.

The yellow level warning, which advises people to 'be aware', is valid from 9pm tonight until 3pm tomorrow. It covers the east of the county, particularly the Pennines.

Forecasters predict the snow and sleet to become heavier during Sunday morning. They say some temporary slushy accumulations are possible down to 150 metres early on Sunday, with two to five centimetres likely above 250 metres and possibly 10 to 15 centimetres above 350 metres.

There could be some disruption to travel services in the area.
