FANS of Sir Tom Jones can get their hands on tickets to see his long-awaited return to Cumbria for just 50p.

The music icon is set to take to the stage at Cartmel Racecourse for one night on June 30.

It will be his first appearance in South Cumbria for more than 50 years.

Now concert promoters Cuffe and Taylor are offering die-hard fans the chance to get tickets for only 50p - if they can prove they were at his earlier show in Barrow more than half a century ago.

The Welsh singer said: "It is more than 50 years since I last played in this part of the country.

"It's a beautiful part of the UK and I'm sure it is going to be a fantastic.

"Racecourses always put together a great night out and the audiences are up for a good time so I'm looking forward to getting on stage at Cartmel."

The Delilah and Sex Bomb singer last performed in Cumbria in 1966 at Barrow's 99 Club. The Dalkeith Street venue is still at the heart of the town's entertainment scene today, now known as The Nines.

Anyone with a ticket for Sir Tom's 1966 show, or a photo of themselves there, are able to see the star again for 50p.

The tickets for the 99 Club cost 10 shillings at the time.

Peter Taylor, of Cuffe and Taylor, said: "We are thrilled to be bringing Tom back to the South Lakes area after such a long gap.

"This is going to be a fantastic night at Cartmel and it would be great to hear from people who were there at the 99 club in 1966.

"I can only imagine how excited the crowd will have been that night and, having worked with this music legend on many occasions across the UK, we can assure everyone that the Cartmel show will be a night to remember."

The 76-year-old hitmaker and his band will be presenting a set list built from a career that traverses all eras and genres of popular music.

Having sold more than 100 million records in more than 50 years as a recording artist, he is among the most successful British performers of all time.

The show will see him run through some of his biggest and best-known chart anthems, which also includes What's New Pussycat? , Mama Told Me Not to Come , and Kiss , with some newer material also likely to feature.

His most recent album, Long Lost Suitcase , was released at the end of 2015, and landed in the UK Top 20 - garnering some of the strongest reviews of his career to date.

The Voice judge will be joined on stage by acoustic duo Into The Ark, who found fame on the ITV show under the guidance of Sir Tom.

Anyone with proof they were at the 1966 show should email their evidence to events@cuffeandtaylor.com.
