A LAKE District village is set to be disrupted by roadworks as vital work to resurface the road is carried out next month.

Cumbria County Council will be carrying out essential road maintenance work in Ambleside from February 1.

The works will involve replacing worn-out sections of the road with a brand new, hard-wearing surface.

The council has scheduled the work for early February to minimise disruption to road users with some of the resurfacing set to be carried out during the off-peak evening period.

Temporary road closures will be required to enable these works to be safely carried out and signed local diversions will be in place.

Residents and businesses in the affected areas have been informed of the works and ‘business as usual’ signs will be in place throughout.

In addition, access to properties will be maintained but limited from time to time so members of the community are being asked to take account of resurfacing works and plan their journeys as much as possible.

- Wednesday February 1: Lake Road outside Hayes Garden Centre - Evening Works from 6.15pm - midnight.

- Thursday February 2: Kelsick Road / Lake Road Junction - Evening Works from 6.15pm - midnight.

- Friday February 3: A591 Adjacent to Bridge House - Evening Works from 6.15pm – midnight (two-way traffic diversion on Rothay Road).
