STATUS Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt is in hospital after suffering a heart attack just two days before he is due to headline at Rock On Windermere.

He is currently being treated in Antalya and is said to be in a serious but stable condition.

In a statement, his management said: 'Whilst his condition is serious, he has already demanded his customary cup of tea with two sugars and a sweetener.'

The band's manager Simon Porter added: "No further comment will be made at this stage until the completion of the next round of tests and assessments to be made over the next few days.

"We would ask you to respect the family's privacy at this difficult time."

Mr Parfitt has suffered a catalogue of health problems, including a quadruple heart bypass in 1997, a throat cancer scare in 2005 and a heart attack in 2011.

Rock On Windermere to be one of Lakes' biggest-ever gigs

Status Quo and 10cc, as well as 90s Britpop stars Toploader, leading tributes and great local bands, will all appear at The Glebe, in Bowness, from Friday to Sunday.

The concert weekend has been set up by the Windermere Rotary Club, The Bay and Lakeland Radio with a target of raising £50,000 for the Cumbria Flood Appeal.

The line-up on tomorrow sees Gordon Hendricks perform as Elvis, and the Platinum Abba Tribute also take to the outdoor stage. Saturday is the big one with iconic stadium rock band Status Quo hopefully still performing their first and last Lake District date. Long-term members Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Andy Bown and John "Rhino" Edwards are all in the five-man line-up, completed by drum prodigy Leon Cave. The band – best known for such classics as Rockin’ All Over The World and Whatever You Want - are reportedly set to hang up their guitars for good when their current touring commitments are completed.

Toploader, who shot to fame in 1999 with debut album Onka’s Big Moka, featuring the stand-out track Dancing In The Moonlight, went their separate ways in 2003. However, since reforming again at the end of the decade they have once again become a regular touring band and their 2013 singles were praised across the board. Bowness Bay Blues headliner Sean Webster and well-regarded four-piece rockers Jagged Edge will provide the support. The weekend now concludes with 10cc. The Stockport outfit, best known for hits such as Dreadlock Holiday and Rubber Bullets, which reached number one in the charts in the 1970s, were late additions to the bill, and will be playing a Greatest Hits set on Sunday. The first supergroup of their type, the band was comprised of some of the country’s best-known musicians in their own right, and have been touring for more than 40 years. Two local bands, The Amazing Kappa Band and the Fabulous Picasso Brothers, complete the line-up. Trade stands, food courts and licensed bars will be on site for the whole duration and attendees are encouraged to enter as early as possible to ensure the best viewing positions as the remaining tickets are selling quickly and space will be limited. Tickets for the event are available from www.rockonwindermere.co.uk and Kendal's Brewery Arts Centre box office.
