POLICE have launched an urgent appeal for information after an elderly woman died after she was taken to hospital.

The woman, who is from the Windermere area, died after she was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital on Wednesday.

Her death was reported to the coroner in Lancashire over the weekend.

Police said prior to being taken ill, the woman was walking a brown and black Border Collie dog in the Millerground area of Windermere, near Rayrigg Road.

She is described as petite, 5' 2", with short, spiked blonde hair and was wearing an orange hooded top, blue t-shirt and light blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the woman, or who may have seen her in Windermere, is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
