A STUNNING image which captured the beauty of the Lake District has scooped a national prize.
The prestigious Landscape Photographer of the Year awards will culminate with an exhibition on the balcony at Britain's busiest rail station, London Waterloo, from November 21.
The awards were held in association with VisitBritain for the third year, with many categories including one which showcased the diversity of moments and experiences that can only be had on a trip across Britain.
It was won by Mark Gilligan, from Northwich, Cheshire, for a perfectly framed shot of a figure standing by Wastwater in the Lake District, under the arch of a rainbow.
The overall prize went to an "intriguing" image of starlings swirling around the remains of Brighton's West Pier.
All the winning and commended photographs are published in a book, Landscape Photographer of the Year: Collection 10.
