STUNNING scenes have been creatively captured as part of a competition showcasing Cumbria's beauty.

More than 200 entries have been submitted to the Lake District Hotel Association's inaugural photo competition.

And organisers have been impressed by the high standard of entries received.

They have released the 10 shortlisted entries for the competition, designed to promote tourism across the region.

Association vice-chairman Tim Rumney said: "We received so many fantastic entries into the competition that celebrate the stunning surroundings in the Lake District.

"Our winter campaign was all about showcasing the real Lake District that we are all lucky enough to experience every day and these photos do exactly that! We’re all very excited to see who the winners will be."

It is hoped that the images will provide a powerful reminder about the beauty of Lakeland, with tourism one of the county's most lucrative industries.

The shortlist is split into two categories: over 18s and under 18s.

People can vote for their favourite entry at www.reallakedistrict.co.uk.

The winners from each category will receive an exclusive prize from members of the Association.

Voting is open until February 24.
