TWO men from South Cumbria have been sent to prison for the burglary of a Bowness property which left a Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog injured.
Jason Sutton, of School Knott Drive, Windermere, and Patrick Ruddy, of The Heights, Staveley, were sentenced today at Carlisle Crown Court after pleading guilty at a previous hearing to burglary dwelling.
Ruddy was sentenced to 3 years and 2 months in prison and Sutton was handed a sentence of 3 years.
The pair forced their way into a flat at Helm Close, Bowness, on August 19th of last year. Once inside the property they caused damage, stole items including a wallet, and injured a Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog who was present.
Detective Constable Tom Pearman said: “This was a particularly distasteful burglary, with a large amount of damage caused inside the address and injury caused to the victim’s dog.
"The sentence imposed on these two men today reflects just how seriously the courts and Cumbria Police take such offences. They will not be tolerated.”
