POLICE were called to house in Stramongate, Kendal in the early hours of this morning following fire.
A 67-year-old woman who lives at the address suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary where she subsequently died.
Officers have arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with the incident. He is currently in police custody.
Cumbria Constabulary is working with colleagues at Cumbria Fire and Rescue as the investigation continues.
Officers are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident at this time but would like to hear from anyone who has yet to come forward and who may have information which could assist their investigation.
