A MAN has appeared in court accused of an attempted robbery and £16,000 fraud related to Cumbria Flood Recovery Fund.

Levi Douglas Alexander Dixon, 27, appeared at Furness Magistrates' Court today charged with the attempted robbery of Castle Stores, Kendal, and

possessing a bladed article in a public place on Wednesday.  

Dixon, of Kendal, but of no fixed abode, also faced charges of making three fraudulent applications, of around £16,000 in total, to the Cumbria Flood Recovery Fund between December and January. 

The defendant is also accused of two counts possession of controlled drugs, 

and the theft and attempted theft of TVs from Asda in Kendal.

No pleas were entered and magistrates sent the case to crown court.  

The case was adjourned until March 11 to be heard at Preston Crown Court. 

A bail application was refused by the magistrates and Dixon was remanded in custody.
