ORGANISERS of a traditional rural show held this weekend are hoping this year's efforts will be the best yet.

The Lowick Show will set up stall in the fields near the A5084 Greenodd to Coniston, just south of Lowick Bridge.

With its long and proud history, the show once again celebrate all that is great about life in the Crake Valley.

This year boasts competitions for cattle, sheep, horses and ponies as well as horticulture, home produce and handicrafts.

Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, hill and track races and hound trails will also be on offer along with working sheep dog competitions.

For shoppers, there will also be a craft marquee and stalls packed with local produce and snacks as well as children's entertainment and a bar.

The show will take place on Saturday.
