A LAKE District driver who headed to McDonald's in his car the morning after a drinking session has lost his licence.
Eugene Pillay was pulled over on the A591 near Kendal at 8.30am on June 29, Furness Magistrates' Court heard on Wednesday. The 32-year-old, of Bellman Close, Windermere, pleaded guilty to having a low reading of 48 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Representing himself, the defendant explained he had had his last drink at 4am. Having had a shower and some coffee, he had “thought he was ok”.
Pillay was banned from driving for 14 months. He was also ordered to pay a £200 fine, a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
