A TRADITIONAL show which showcases all things Cumbrian is expected to draw hundreds of visitors on Sunday.

This year's Lakeland Country Fair at Torver takes place from noon and highlights will include Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, archery, sheep-clipping, basket making and fell races.

New for this year's fair is a visit from the Fell Pony Society who are putting on ring displays at 12.20pm and 2.30pm.

Alison Bolt, show secretary, said the atmosphere of the event made it special.

She said: "The thing about the show is we try to be a showcase for Cumbria so it's Cumbrian interests, Cumbrian skills and Cumbrian pastimes and traditions.

"We have got the Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling and there is a prize for the best costume. We get quite a few ladies doing it as it's getting more popular among girls these days.

"There's a horn blowing competition. I don't think any other fair has that."

Attractions will include the various pet shows, a tug-of-war between young farmers from Broughton and Lowick and donkey rides.
