MOUNTAIN rescue volunteers and a team from the Great North Air Ambulance Service worked together to help a stricken walker who fell while out in the Lake District.
The air ambulance was called to assist the Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team in Easedale Tarn at 3.30pm yesterday (14) after the woman in her 60s suffered a back injury. The GNAAS paramedic and doctor team gave her pain relief before airlifting her to a waiting land ambulance in Grasmere.
She was taken by road to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle, where she is in a stable condition.
