A YOUNG girl remains in a critical condition following a crash on a south Cumbria road this weekend.

On Saturday March 17 a white Ford Fiesta carrying four passengers left the carriageway on the A591 around 6.45pm.

The occupants of the car are understood to be from Preston and were travelling from Windermere to Kendal at the time. The car was driven by a 23-year-old woman with a 28-year-old man in the passenger seat. There were two four-year-old children in the rear of the car.

All four were injured when their car crashed into a tree at Bannerigg Farm, near Ings.

The man, woman and a four-year-old boy sustained minor injuries but a four-year-old girl had to be taken to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool and was described as being in a critical condition.

Today (21) Cumbria police released a statement saying the girl remains in hospital remains in a critical condition, but is stable.

Any witnesses to the crash are urged to call the police on 101 to help with its ongoing investigation. They are asked to request to speak to PC 2190.
