A CYCLIST had to be airlifted to the Royal Preston Hospital on Saturday after colliding with a minibus near Windermere.
The accident occurred at 3.15pm on the B5285 between Far Sawrey and the Windermere Ferry.
The cyclist, 50, had been travelling towards the ferry on his mountain bike when he was involved in the collision with a white Mercedes minibus.
Police and an ambulance attended the scene where the man was treated for serious head injuries before being airlifted to hospital. He was in a serious condition.
The road was closed until approximately 8pm.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time and may have seen either the Mercedes mini bus or the cyclist to contact Cumbria police, quoting log number 127 of Saturday August 12, and ask to speak to PC1807 Simon Eyres of the Mobile Support Group.
