Police are continuing to appeal for information about a missing man who is believed to be in the Lake District.

Cumbria Police were called on Friday July 1 to reports of a grey Fiat Punto found at Blea Tarn car park, Little Langdale, near Ambleside.

It not known how long the car, registered to missing 41-year-old Darren Merritt, had been in that location.

Prior to this Mr Merritt was last seen at an address in Leigh, Manchester, on November 1 2015.

Police now have CCTV images confirming the missing man to have been at Tesco in Ambleside on Thursday July 7.

Mr Merritt has some medical concerns and may display some erratic behaviour.

Police are concerned for his welfare and appeal to anyone who has seen him to call Cumbria Police on 101.

Police also urge Mr Merritt if he sees this appeal to let police know he is safe and well.
