CAMPAIGNERS at the centre of a controversial ticket machine row are hoping their dispute will soon be over.

Windermere residents have long been complaining about the complex ticketing system put in place on their ferry and hope an internal review by Cumbria County Council will signal a return to a simpler system.

Windermere councillor Ben Berry said campaigners were set to continue the fight if the Council continued to "keep its head in the sand" over the issues.

"We stand ready to continue to fight the council and these ridiculous machines if the council still won’t listen," he said.

The review will take place during the council's cabinet meeting on December 21.
