THE Cumbria Big Sleep event has been postponed due to a water-logged site and high winds.

The fundraiser which sees people sleep under the stars had been due to take place this Saturday night at The Low Wood Bay Hotel, Windermere.

The event is held every winter to raise money for Cumbria Community Foundation’s Winter Warmth Appeal – helping older people in Cumbria stay warm and safe during the cold winter months.

In the first two years, the Big Sleep attracted more than 400 people and raised almost £40,000 for the appeal.

After much consideration the organisers have taken the decision to postpone this weekend’s Big Sleep and re-schedule it for Saturday February 27.

The organisers have been advised that a marquee may not be able to be erected because of water-logging on site. High winds are also forecast for Saturday night so sleeping out could potentially be unsafe.
