A MAN has been sentenced to community service after breaching a restraining order and offending when subject to a conditional discharge.

On Monday Nigel Frank Lawless, 50, of no fixed address, attended Beresford Court, in Bowness, breaching a restraining order.

Lawless, appearing yesterday at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court, pleaded guilty to the offence.

He was sentenced to 50 hours of community service, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85.

For breaching a conditional discharge related to a previous harassment charge, he was ordered to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work.

The community work has to be carried out within the next 12 months.
