POLICE have received vital information in their search for a man who exposed himself in front of a woman who was on her own in Windermere.

The incident happened at about 1.30pm on Sunday in the Orrest Head area of the popular Lakeside spot.

Police received a report that a woman, walking in the area, was approached by a man who initially tried to befriend her and then indecently exposed himself to her.

The man has been described as white, of medium build, with short and greying hair. He was wearing shorts, a T-shirt and a green rucksack at the time of the incident.

The woman ran away from the scene and, while she is not injured, officers say she remains upset and shaken by the incident.

Police are keen to speak to another woman who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the man behaving suspiciously. She is described as white, with black hair tied into a ponytail, wearing black knee length trousers and a stripped purple top and was running in the opposite direction of the man.

Officers who have been investigating this incident have since been informed by a member of the public that a man fitting the description of the suspect has been regularly sighted in the area.

Anyone with information which could help to identify the man should ring 101, asking to speak to PC Stuart Game from Kendal Police and quoting log number 177 of June 19.
