Contest: The All England Stone Skimming Championships return to Fell Foot next month
AN annual stone skimming championship event returns to the Lake District next month.
Fell Foot will be the setting for The All England Stone Skimming Championships which is open to men, women and children, as well as teams.
Entrants in one of the four categories must make a stone skip on the surface of the water at least three times, with the winner making the longest throw.
Competitors get three stones, from a selection provided by the organisers, and skims must stay in the lanes laid out in the water.
The event is open to all and admission is free. There willl also be a barbecue, beer tent, ice creams, children's activities and more.
