Lake District post office to benefit from revamp

A POST office in the Lake District is to undergo a modern revamp and will open for more hours.

The Post Office is modernising Grasmere Post Office in Stock Lane to create a new local-style open-plan branch with longer opening hours for customers.

Grasmere Post Office will close for refurbishment at 4.30pm on Thursday May 29. The new branch is scheduled to open at 1.30pm on Friday May 30.

Customers are encouraged to use branches including Ambleside and Hawkshead during the works.

Once complete, customers will benefit from opening hours being increased to 63 hours a week and the new branch will be open 9am to 6pm Monday to Sunday.

Karen Bragg, Post Office field change advisor, said: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents in Grasmere and we are confident that this new modern post office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
