Judge sums up evidence in Barrow abuse case verdict to be reached

THE judge in the trial of a man accused of sexually abusing and raping a girl has been summing up the evidence.

Judge Pamela Badley was due to complete her summing up today, with the jury at Preston Crown Court expected to retire to consider its verdict.

David Thomson, 47, of Whinsfield Avenue, Barrow, denies a total of eight charges, which include one of rape and three of sexual activity with a child.

The prosecution claim the girl fell asleep at an address in the Furness area and woke to find Thomson touching her sexually.

In his evidence, Thomson strenuously denied the allegations and said the complainant had exhibited delusional behaviour.
